Hops and Heritage is a small team of friends with a big passion for beer and pubs. We're all based in Sheffield, a city with a rich brewing history and an incredible number of fantastic pubs.
We've made it our mission to celebrate this heritage by sharing everything we discover about the city's beer scene. Join us as we explore, learn, and document Sheffield's unique brewing history, one pint at a time.
We believe that beer is more than just a beverage; it's a social lubricant, a conversation starter, and a thread that binds generations. By interviewing brewers, publicans, and local enthusiasts, we strive to preserve these stories and foster a deeper appreciation for the enduring role of beer in Sheffield's history and its continuing contribution to our shared social fabric.
By fostering a sense of community, we aim to celebrate Sheffield's rich brewing heritage and its status as the Real Ale Capital of the World.
Through events, collaborations, and educational initiatives, we will highlight the unique stories behind each brewery, the artistry of their brews, and the enduring traditions that have shaped Sheffield's ale culture.
Meet The Team:
George - Founder, Writer, Editor
George likes tasting beers, but even more than that, he loves the pubs where its drank - and you will usually find him with his trusty steed Freddie.

- Favourite Type of Beer: Sours - Or anything wacky!
- Favourite Pub Story: George once went out for some pub drinks in Sheffield, and when he woke up, he was in Poland with no possessions other than a smashed up plate - I'll leave the middle part for your imagination.
Steve - Founder, Writer, Editor
Steve likes words, languages, playing music and jumping out of planes.
He'd be one of the most productive people on the planet if beer hadn't been invented.
- Favourite Pub: The Lescar - Despite their never being a table free, even at 9am on a Monday, he just can't stay away.
- Favourite Beer: Goose Island IPA
- Favourite Type of Beer: IPA
- Favourite Pub Story: We won't say where, but he once passed out on the stage in a pub against a black curtain. Because he was wearing a black suit, he was practically invisible and everyone thought he'd gone home for about 2 hours until his body was discovered! (he's fine)
Brad - Founder, Writer, Editor
Brad likes beer, beer, and did I mention beer. He loves a good crack, and a good ol' natter.
- Favourite Pub: The Rutland Arms - The rotating cask ales are what keeps him returning, and the good vibes.
- Favourite Beer: Plum Porter by Titanic Brewery (or his home brew!)
- Favourite Type of Beer: NEIPA - Fruity and hazy
- Favourite Pub Story: He was at the pub a few years ago, and was about to go and catch the last train, but he was currently laid unconscious in the West End area of Sheffield and his friend had to give him a piggy back all the way there.
Fiona - Founder
Fiona is the brains and background worker of everything that goes on here at Hops and Heritage, and whilst she prefers her gin to a good beer, you can still find her sipping on pints at the local!

- Favourite Pub Story: She was once on one of Steve's famous pub crawls, one pub away from the finish line, before she got pushed over by a fellow crawler, and fractured her arm just before finishing. (She did win the most enthusiastic award in the end though!)
Georgina - Artist
Georgina is our pub artist, and loves to spend her time outside of beer drawing wonderful pieces of art.
