Meet The Team

We're Hops & Heritage, and together we form a small team of beer enthusiasts that want to spread awareness and highlight the heritage and culture that surrounds beer in Sheffield.

We believe in combining two of life’s greatest pleasures: craft beer and local history. We believe that a great beer tells a story, and that story is often intertwined with the history of the place where it's brewed.

George - Founder, Writer, Editor

George likes tasting beers, but even more than that, he loves the pubs where its drank - and you will usually find him with his trusty steed Freddie.

  • Favourite Beer: Iron Bru Sour - Vault City
  • Favourite Type of Beer: Sours - Or anything wacky!
  • Favourite Pub Story: George once went out for some pub drinks in Sheffield, and when he woke up, he was in Poland with no possessions other than a smashed up plate - I'll leave the middle part for your imagination.

Steve - Founder, Writer, Editor

Steve likes words, languages, playing music and jumping out of planes.

He'd be one of the most productive people on the planet if beer hadn't been invented.

  • Favourite Pub: The Lescar - Despite their never being a table free, even at 9am on a Monday, he just can't stay away.
  • Favourite Beer: Goose Island IPA
  • Favourite Type of Beer: IPA
  • Favourite Pub Story: We won't say where, but he once passed out on the stage in a pub against a black curtain. Because he was wearing a black suit, he was practically invisible and everyone thought he'd gone home for about 2 hours until his body was discovered! (he's fine)

Brad - Founder, Writer, Editor

Brad likes beer, beer, and did I mention beer. He loves a good crack, and a good ol' natter.

  • Favourite Pub: The Rutland Arms - The rotating cask ales are what keeps him returning, and the good vibes.
  • Favourite Beer: Plum Porter by Titanic Brewery (or his home brew!)
  • Favourite Type of Beer: NEIPA - Fruity and hazy
  • Favourite Pub Story: He was at the pub a few years ago, and was about to go and catch the last train, but he was currently laid unconscious in the West End area of Sheffield and his friend had to give him a piggy back all the way there.

Fiona - Founder

Fiona is the brains and background worker of everything that goes on here at Hops and Heritage, and whilst she prefers her gin to a good beer, you can still find her sipping on pints at the local!

  • Favourite Type of Beer: American Pale Ale
  • Favourite Pub Story: She was once on one of Steve's famous pub crawls, one pub away from the finish line, before she got pushed over by a fellow crawler, and fractured her arm just before finishing. (She did win the most enthusiastic award in the end though!)

Georgina - Artist

Georgina is our pub artist, and loves to spend her time outside of beer drawing wonderful pieces of art - You can find her pubs artworks showcased with the button below:
